Preventing and Reporting Academic Misconduct
Abstract
Professor Curry will speak on university policies regarding academic misconduct and what constitutes academic misconduct. He will also advise on course management strategies to deter cheating.
Bio
Dr. Timothy Jon Curry is the Coordinator for the Committee on Academic Misconduct and Associate Professor of Sociology at the Ohio State University. He brings to the coordinatorÍs position ten years of experience in managing Instructional Development in the Department of Sociology (1996-2006). As Chair of SociologyÍs Instructional Development Committee, his goal was to create a comprehensive system of procedures to facilitate the teaching activities in the department, especially regarding important university and federal rules and regulations surrounding instruction and academic misconduct.
He has published articles on aspects of mass communication, sport, gender, and menÍs health. His books include Sports: A Sociological Perspective (1984), Introducing Visual Sociology (1983), Sociology for the Twenty-first Century (2002), and High Stakes: Big Time Sport and Downtown Redevelopment (2004). He is past president of the North American Society for the Sociology of Sport and the International Visual Sociology Association
