Are you an OSU MSE student or alumni(nae)? Join our job openings mailing list. To receive notices, please complete the MSE alumni contact form.

Employers contact our department seeking MSE students and/or alumni to fill positions in their firms. Let us e-mail these position descriptions directly to you.

Privacy: we do not display your e-mail address in our mailings, nor will we forward your address to anyone outside of the OSU MSE department. You may expect approximately 2-6 mailings per month.

Engineering Career Services

Far and away the best resource available to our students! ECS is assists undergrads and grad students alike by offering job search workshops, practice interview sessions, and individual career counseling. The ECS web site provides access to hundreds of job postings. Along with powerful research capabilities, this site includes job search links, online interview scheduling, and resume posting (post your resume the way you want it to look)! You'll also receive the kind of personal help and guidance that you can't get from a headhunter. There is a one-time $25 sign-up fee which will allow you to enter your resume in their online database.

  • Link to ECS co-op's and internships are excellent opportunities to preview a potential career field, to get your foot in the door, and to obtain professional experience needed to compete with other graduating seniors.

F.E. and P.E. Exams

One of the most important decisions you can make early in your engineering career is to place yourself on a course to become licensed as a professional engineer (P.E.). The profession is regulated by licensing boards in each U.S. state and territory.

Further info:

  • OSU students are certified by Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors. It is through this board that a student applies and takes the exam.
  • The College of Engineering offers Engineering 510 each Winter Quarter. This course helps prepare students for the FE exam. Current students as well as engineering degree holders may register for the course. For more information, contact Ed McCaul.
  • A PE exam review course (non-credit) is available through the College of Engineering. For more information, contact Ed McCaul.

Posting positions with Engineering Career Services. ECS offers a powerful tool for recruiters by means of the Career Connections' online database system. This service is free to employers and will permit you to post openings, search, sort, and print resumes, and schedule interviews with students.

Additionally, the MSE department will be glad to forward a company's position descriptions to our undergrads and/or graduate students via the department's e-mail server. Please provide the following information:

  • Description of position,
  • Qualifications sought,
  • Deadlines,
  • Contact information,
  • Other relevant material

This information should be sent via e-mail to mse@osu.edu. Position descriptions may also be faxed to (614) 292-1537 ATTN: Mark Cooper. Faxed job openings will be summarized by our staff and e-mailed to our students then posted in a central location.
